The Environmental Law Resource Center of Yerevan State University
The Environmental Law Resource Center of Yerevan State University is a unique academic hub in the South Caucasus Region created to conduct environmental law researches and contribute to the development of environmental legislation. The Centre was established on 16 September, 2008 according to the memorandum signed between Yerevan State University and OSCE Office in Armenia.
THE MISSION OF CENTER IS
- To promote development and implementation of environmental legislation in Armenia.
- To expand and strengthen the capacity of Law Faculty in the sphere of environmental law researches,
- To promote the implementation of provisions of UNECE Convention «On Access to Information, Public Participation and Access to Justice in environmental matters» (Aarhus Convention) in Armenia.
- To promote environmental awareness among different professional groups and students.
To fulfill comprehensively the aforementioned objectives ELRC cooperates with the Parliament, Government and Judicial system of Armenia, self-governance bodies as well as with leading foreign institutions and universities, international and national non-governmental organizations.
ELRC became a member of IUCN Environmental Law Academy in 2011 and serves as an expert organization for the National Assembly of Armenia based on the memorandum signed between the latter and the Law Faculty.
The Environmental Law Resource Center of Yerevan State University joined The Program Coordination Platform for Sustainable Management of RA’s Natural Fodder Areas: Pastures and Grasslands on August 17, 2018, as a partner organization.
